SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
At Tantawan Tented Camp, we believe that luxury and purpose can go hand in hand. Nestled in the mountains of Northern Thailand, we are committed to caring for both the natural environment and the local community that surrounds us.
Our approach is simple and thoughtful. We harness solar power, use eco-friendly amenities, and cultivate our own organic chef’s garden on site. We are also proud to source fresh fruit, vegetables and free-range eggs from our neighbours at Friends of Thai Daughters, supporting sustainable farming practices and bringing the freshest ingredients to our farm-to-table dining experiences.
What truly makes Tantawan special, however, is our connection to Friends of Thai Daughters, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing education, safe shelter and long-term opportunities for ethnic minority hill tribe girls at risk of trafficking. Every stay at Tantawan directly contributes to this work and helps create brighter futures for young women in Northern Thailand.
By choosing Tantawan, guests become part of a story that celebrates meaningful travel, authentic connections and a commitment to leaving a positive impact on both people and the planet.
We invite you to discover the inspiring story of Friends of Thai Daughters in the next section.
While traveling through Northern Thailand in 2002, Jane McBride and Patricia Zinkowski discovered fifteen girls living in an abandoned school in the village of Doi Luang. The girls had little adult supervision and were trying to survive as best they could in an area known for human trafficking agents. Jane and Patty committed to helping them, establishing Friends of Thai Daughters to provide a safe haven, education and support.
Since 2005, FTD has been protecting and empowering vulnerable hill tribe girls to become valued Daughters, educated women and independent adults, by providing education, safe shelter and support to girls at risk of being trafficked. Since its founding, FTD has provided life-changing support and opportunities to more than 500 girls, their families and the surrounding communities.
In 2022, Friends of Thai Daughters (FTD) completed the construction of the Sunflower Farm, an iconic bamboo and adobe structure located right next to Tantawan Tented Camp. The campus features a residential Children’s Home, an organic farm providing fresh fruit, vegetables and eggs to guests at Tantawan Tented Camp. Additionally, two state-of-the-art pickleball courts are available to guests with advance reservations.
